The GLC performance lineup is about to get a new reset, with AMG’s decision to replace some “old-fashioned” engines. The models in question refer to the previous GLC 43 and the plug-in hybrid GLC 63. This means that the controversial four-cylinder experiment is almost over. With this decision in mind, instead of chasing complexity, AMG has gone back to something that feels more familiar.
Complete Powertrain Information
The 2027 Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 now packs a 3.0-liter inline-six turbocharged engine paired with mild-hybrid assistance. The overall output is 443 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Short bursts might climb the torque to 640 Nm. Why? Due to an overboost function. The electric system can briefly add extra shove as well, smoothing out the delivery and filling any gaps.

Power is sent to all wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission, along with a fully variable all-wheel-drive system, capable of sending everything to the rear axle when conditions allow.
With these numbers in mind, the new GLC 53 reaches 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, making it three tenths quicker than the former GLC 43 with 416 horsepower. Nevertheless, it becomes 0.7 seconds slower than the bigger brother GLC 63 PHEV. As for top speed, this is limited to 250 km/h.
For extra cash, buyers can also opt for some new features, such as an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential, along with the AMG Dynamic Package, which contains drift modes and active engine mounts. More than that, AMG is also offering rear-wheel steering, large brakes, and adaptive dampers.

Other Specifications
Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 will also come in a fastback coupe and a square-back SUV with an expected starting price in the UK of about £100,000. In the case of the US market, the model would cost approximately 85 000. Nonetheless, with additional money, the customers also have an option of the Golden Accents Package, which incorporates additional exceptional features, including gold-colored cross-spoke alloy wheels or AMG logos.
Conclusion
AMG’s reshuffle doesn’t stop here. According to voices inside the company, other models are about to hit the market next year. It would be the C53 and the long-expected 63, the latter expected to come with a tuned flat-plane crank V8 from the S-Class. According to Autocar, this setup would make the 63 extremely powerful – 650 horsepower and impressive 800 Nm of torque, which is far better than the luxury-focused S-Class sedan, with 530 horsepower and 745 Nm of torque.

For now, though, the GLC 53 marks a return to six-cylinder muscle — less complicated, arguably more authentic, and clearly positioned right in the middle of AMG’s evolving lineup.
