MG has moved from presentation to actual sales with the 2026 MGS9 PHEV in the United Kingdom, where the seven-seat SUV can now be ordered in two trim levels. Buyers choosing the new model will have to decide between Comfort and Premium, although mechanically the two remain identical.
In the UK, the new seven-seat MGS9 PHEV comes with a base price of £34,205, or the equivalent of $45,595 in the Comfort versions, while the top-of-the-line Premium comes at £36,945 or $49,250. Different packages add more costs.
Comfort already covers most of the essentials expected in this segment. Visually, it features 20-inch alloy wheels, Vehicle-to-Load capability system, as well as a powered tailgate. Inside, the cabin gets dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric adjustment front seats, heated front seats, ambient lighting, and more.
Premium shifts the atmosphere a bit with front fog lamps, smart tailgate, new alloy wheels, while the interior receives leather upholstery, 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless charging, and four-way lumbar adjustment for the driver. Nothing dramatic in isolation, though together it makes the upper trim feel distinctly better equipped.
Underneath, MG uses one plug-in hybrid arrangement for both versions. This means an electric motor working in tandem with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine, developing a combined output of 295 horsepower and 288 lb0ft of torque. The power is sent to all wheels via a single-speed automatic transmission.
The plug-in hybrid system is paired with a 24.7 kWh battery, providing the new MGS9 with an electric range of around 100 km. It also helps the SUV achieve a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a good 9.6 seconds.
Safety is another part that MG emphasizes. The model holds a five-star Euro NCAP result and comes with up to 16 ADAS functions monitoring traffic and road conditions ahead. MG Pilot Custom is included as well, allowing drivers to store preferred assistance settings instead of adjusting them repeatedly.
One small note remains attached to the efficiency figures: MG says the published range values were estimated under the WLTP cycle, and final confirmation is still pending. Even so, pricing, specifications, and trim separation are now fully laid out, which means the MGS9 has effectively entered the UK market in full.
