Audi has finally prepared the all-new RS5 plug-in hybrid for its final landing in Australia, the expected model coming in sedan and Avant shapes. The company says that the first deliveries start next month and come with great prices. This means AUD 179,900 for the sedan and AUD 182,900 for the Avant.

Converted at current exchange rates, the sedan equals USD 128,115. The wagon rises to USD 130,255.

This new RS5 introduces plug-in hybrid assistance for the first time in the model line. Under the hood sits a 2.9-liter TFSI twin-turbo V6 linked to a hybridized 8HP automatic transmission from ZF. The electric motor sits inside the transmission housing and replaces the traditional 12-volt starter.

The combustion engine alone produces 375 kW in Australian trim. The electric motor adds 130 kW. Combined output reaches 470 kW, equal to 630 hp, while torque climbs to 825 Nm, listed in imperial form as 608 lb-ft.

Audi added a temporary output function called boost mode. Full system output stays available for 10 seconds per activation. The brand links this feature to overtaking and stronger acceleration. During boost mode, exhaust valves open for a louder sound.

Acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour, or 62 miles per hour, takes 3.6 seconds. Range on electric support differs between body styles. The sedan covers 78 kilometers, or 48 miles, under WLTP testing. The Avant reaches 76 kilometers, equal to 47 miles.

A 25.9-kWh battery sits low in the floor to keep mass near the ground. The pack works with a 400-volt electrical system. Charging on AC reaches 11 kilowatts and needs about 2.5 hours for a full refill. Audi states active cooling works in RS Sport and RS Torque Rear Drive Select settings.

The center differential stays partially locked all the time. Torque distribution shifts from 30 percent rear bias up to 85 percent in the most aggressive driving conditions. Rear-wheel torque transfer between both rear wheels happens in as little as 15 milliseconds through a dedicated actuator motor.

Australian buyers receive fewer than six twin-spoke wheel finishes for the 21-inch alloy wheels, with four selectable finishes available. Audi also includes a five-year service plan.

Audi Advantage adds another ownership layer. RS5 buyers are offered two-year packages extending a limited warranty, servicing, and roadside assistance. These packages stack one after another, bringing factory warranty coverage up to nine years.

North America receives the sedan only. Audi states weak demand keeps the longroof away from that market.
