Mazda Australia has recently announced the pricing of the brand-new CX-5 in the local markets, after its official announcement in the Land Down Under last summer. With prices starting from AU$39,990, the model lineup will be powered by a single engine, stretching from standard features to top-of-the-line equipment for the higher variants.

Speaking of engines, the new Mazda CX-5 in all its versions is equipped with the same 2.5-liter Skyactive G engine, with output of 180 ps/177 hp and 242 Nm/178 lb-ft of torque. The fifth-generation Mazda also achieves a fuel efficiency of 7.4 L/100 km, with an average CO2 emissions figure of 173 g/km.

The least expensive version is the Pure, opening at AU$39,990, or US$27,965. Even so, this variant is equipped with plenty of new features, like LED headlights and 1-inch alloy wheels. The cabin comes with 12.9-inch infotainment display and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

One step higher sits the Evolve at AU$42,990 (US$30,065). Heated front seats are featured here, along with wireless charging and wireless smartphone integration. Mazda also adds a frameless rearview mirror with auto-dimming, heated door mirrors that fold automatically, rear air vents, and smart keyless entry. It is not a dramatic visual jump, perhaps, but the equipment does move enough to make the grade separation clear.

Touring begins at AU$47,490, equivalent to US$33,210, and introduces a different comfort focus. Buyers here receive a heated steering wheel, roof rails, active driving display, and a remote-operated power tailgate. The driver’s seat becomes a 10-way power unit with memory, while black Maztex trim with synthetic suede inserts replaces the simpler materials lower in the range. Heated windscreen functionality and mirror memory are included, too.

Next in line is the GT SP, available at AU $51,990, and is equipped with bigger 19-inch black wheels, LED headlights, gloss black exterior finish, and a 360-degree camera system. The cabin tweaks the Bose audio system, heated outer rear seats, or black leather upholstery.

Moving to the Akera variant, this one can be yours for AU$54,990 and adds a wider 15.6-inch central display, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, hands-free tailgate operation, and ventilated front seats.

Mazda also offers trim upgrades, though selectively. Black and white Maztex can be ordered only on Touring for AU$1,000 (US$700), while tan leather on GT SP and Akera costs the same amount.

The model will be available in all Australian dealerships starting this summer, with deliveries to start shortly after.
