Hyundai has recently announced the availability of its entry-level Exter model in India, the car coming with rather the same usual elements as the previous model. However, it does feature a couple of new cabin tweaks, while the powertrain remains the same.
The Korean-based carmaker introduced the Exter in 2023, the model becoming its first hit on the local market, with very competitive prices. The new Exter is no exception either, having a starting price of just Rs 5.80 lakh, or $6,200, in the entry-level variant. The top HX comes at Rs 9.42 lakh, the equivalent of $10.000.

What changes most clearly appears at the front. The split LED lighting arrangement remains, including the H-shaped signature, but the lower section has been redrawn through a different bumper layout. A larger grille is now part of the face, joined by an aluminum-look trim piece. Even the Exter badge has moved upward, sitting higher than before on the nose.
Seen from the side, the body gets heavier plastic protection around the arches. The shape gives the impression of separate bolt-on extensions rather than simple trim. Hyundai also introduced another wheel design, still in a 15-inch size. They remain small visually—perhaps inevitably so against the proportions of the body—but they are new.

At the back, the bumper is also revised, while the roof spoiler now carries two wing elements instead of one continuous form, and the panel linking the taillamps uses a cleaner graphic treatment. As for exterior colors, the model is now available with Titanium Black Matte and Golden Bronze.
As for sizes, the car stays pretty much the same as the previous model. It still measures 3,995mm in length, making it the shortest SUV on the Indian market, even if it stretches 400mm beyond the carmaker`s India-only Casper model.
Interior details find the Hyundai Exter basically unchanged, too. The same 8-inch display is available with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The interior is also wrapped in a Navy Blue and Grey combination, while the dashboard surfaces come with a carbon-style finish.
On the equipment listing, there is also a dash-camera along with a flat-bottom steering wheel, Type-C USB ports, redesigned armrest, and metal pedal garnish.

A few standard features have quietly expanded across the lineup. Every Exter now includes driver-seat height adjustment, six airbags, ESC, and Hill-Start Assist Control.
From a mechanical standpoint, Hyundai left the entire engine intact, meaning that the new Exter still comes with the same 1.2-liter flat-four engine, with 82 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. There is also a CNG bi-fuel variant with less power, just 68 horsepower and 95 Nm of torque.
