BMW keeps adding fresh projects to its next product cycle, and one name already under discussion is the iM3, or i3 M, depending on final branding. The electric sedan sits at the top of the upcoming i3 family and serves as a battery-powered counterpart to the next BMW M3, even though both cars rely on separate architectures underneath.
Alongside this program, BMW is preparing another 4 Series generation. Internal direction suggests the future 4 Series will move in parallel with the next 3 Series and i3 line. Internal-combustion versions remain part of the plan, while partially electrified variants are also expected. A two-door electric derivative enters this discussion too, described as an i4 Coupe, with a convertible version also mentioned as a possibility.
A digital proposal published by Aksyonov Nikita on Behance offers one interpretation of where such a coupe might head. The artist labels the project as a 2027 BMW iM3 Coupe, though naming history points elsewhere. BMW separated three-door and five-door models from two-door cars several years ago, assigning the 4 Series badge to the latter group. By the same logic, a two-door version linked to the first electric iM3 would likely carry the iM4 name.
The rendering builds directly from earlier studies connected to the next BMW 4 Series Coupe, including work previously shown by Kolesa after reviewing recent i3 design language. The Neue Klasse front treatment stays central here and appears unchanged in overall direction. BMW seems set on extending this face across future models, regardless of divided reaction.
Viewed from the side, the coupe keeps broad shoulders and a roofline dropping behind the center pillars. The rear uses familiar taillight shapes, while the lower bumper receives an aggressive diffuser treatment. The front remains dominated by a flat Neue Klasse fascia rather than a traditional grille-led nose.
BMW’s M division is expected to influence both the future 4 Series and its electric sibling. Planned work includes chassis revisions, brake upgrades, cabin-specific changes, and stronger exterior differentiation compared with standard versions. The same strategy applies to the combustion-powered 4 Series and the battery-driven alternative.
